Well what a weekend for the Mid Glamorgan badminton faithful. There were tears of happiness and laughter (thankyou Sue), high team spirit (thankyou Sim), moments where people got lost in translation (Andy), and most of all, victory for the team! Mid Glam badminton team travelled to both Guernsey and Jersey to play their division 2 matches in as many days, knowing that if they could secure a win against Guernsey on the Saturday, they would clinch the title. They did just that with a very entertaining 11-4 victory, securing a bonus point and thus securing the championship.

The Mid Glamorgan County Badminton team were victorious in their first fixture of Division 3 in the English Inter County Championship on the weekend, beating Derbyshire 11 games to 4 with an awesome display of raquet skills in what was undoubtedly our strongest encounter to date.

The Richard Vaughan Badminton Academy supported by Memory Lane Cakes Won the Welsh Top Clubs competition this weekend at Brecon Leisure Centre.

The event now re-established by events co-ordinator James Phillips of the Welsh Badminton Union brings together all the top clubs in Wales who fight it out over 9 matches. 1 Men’s singles, 1 Ladies singles, 2 men’s doubles, 2 ladies doubles, and 3 mixed doubles.

The winners of the event gain entry to the European club championships which are this year in Russia.

The team for this match will be picked on Sunday the 23rd March. There are only two non attendees. Andy - who said he was away this month over 7 months ago and Sally who is attending on an alternate session.

The forum has not been used to its full advantage so i will ask you all the same question when I see you.

For now - stay fit - stay hungry - this is our year.

We will win this division !

A great start to the season, winning our first match 13 games to 2 is an excellent way to kick off the county. Thank you to all the players who attended, some standing in last minute to fill the vacant place left by Vaughn's departure.

A convincing win and a good show of strength for the county.
